Hello! My name is May, and I’m from the Philippines. I grew up in California, USA but I’m living in a beautiful island of Palawan with my Belgian husband (also a teacher) at this time. We sometimes invite our Chinese students to travel with us. It’s fun and interesting.
I have stayed in China for 3 years and taught English to Chinese students and adults. Currently, I’m teaching English online. I have travelled to many countries such as the USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and some parts of Europe like Belgium (the chocolate country) – where I meet new people and experience new cultures. I love talking to people who want to improve their English.
I enjoy real-world conversational and situational English.
Also, I love teaching students who want to excel to their EILTS.
Additionally, I can be of great help with businessmen who would like to improve business transactions with their foreign clients. I have a lot of Chinese friends who are doing business and are seeking my help with their Business English transactions.
Yes, I have a degree Major in English and a TESOL certificate. I am currently finishing my TEFL course, too.
I have many interests that we can discuss. Other than travelling, I love cooking, painting and growing cacti and succulents.
My teaching style is exciting and interactive. I teach according to my student’s learning styles.
• I love teaching English that is relevant to YOU and what you want to achieve.
• Surely, we will have fun during lessons, but we will also focus on your goals.
• Some examples include free talks, rapid conversation, online games, watching short English videos, listening skills, idioms, phrasal verbs, slang or even jokes.
• My approach to teaching involves TPR, multiple props, puppets, and an online whiteboard. I treat my students as precious angels in class.
• I have a dedicated environment for teaching that is clutter free and extremely quiet.
I teach not only for the money but also for the happiness I get when I meet new students and become my friends in the long run. As we work together to build your English competency, we will get to know each other more. It will make our lessons seem like they are about your life.
I use supplementary materials and resources outside of our normal lessons. Some examples include Podcasts, WeChat and homework about current events.
During class, I would love to see you not only hearing your “audio” because I want to see your body language and facial expressions. For me, they are important indicators if you understand the material we are discussing.
With that, I hope to see you in my class and let’s have fun studying English together!
